Unpaid cover without US stamps to which regular mail stamps were subsequently applied to meet the postage due rate on arrival. Of particular note is the 1901 20c on 5p black inverted surcharge in red (Scott 151a), cancelled with violet Bluefields oval, repeated on reverse together with New Orleans transit stamp. A scarce useage on cover, particularly with the inverted variety. Glue staining as per image.

A pair of ABNC Telegraph die proofs, depicting a soldier, ploughman and oxen. The 5c blue green was the last telegraph stamp to be issued by Nicaragua and also saw limited postal use. I believe the deep blue proof to be a color trial. Both proofs on India paper sunk on to cream stock card and mounted. A few surface stains on the blue green value.

The stamp was printed by ABNC between 1921 and 1924 as a telegraph revenue and subsequently with the 5c‘Reconstruccion Comunicaciones’ overprint (also by ABNC).
